Guests Delight in Characterful and Luxurious Group Accommodation at Rejuvenated Historic House

Abernant House is an unusual and beautiful 18th century country home, situated in the picturesque Wye Valley. With a fascinating historical background, and following a recent overhaul, Abernant provides elegant yet comfortable accommodation for the discerning group seeking a get-away with a difference.

The owner’s grandfather was Lord Harold Caccia and he lived at Abernant from the 1960’s, being made Baron Caccia of Abernant in 1965. He was in the diplomatic service and was Ambassador in China, Vienna and the USA. He and his wife, Lady Nancy, moved in very glamorous and powerful circles. He was also Provost of Eton. Harold’s father was Antony Caccia, who was translator at the Treaty of Versailles. A rare copy of the Treaty was found in the House about 10 years ago!

Abernant House had become a neglected family holiday home, when the owner decided to make it available to external guests. Jo Quincey stepped in to manage the house and has overseen the establishment of a revitalised and successful holiday home over the last two years.

Jo says “We wanted to refresh and reinvigorate Abernant House while maintaining its glorious historical features. During my time at this stunning home, I have uncovered glimpses of its intriguing history. I have fallen in love with this unique venue – and our guests always say the same thing!  We provide a taste of the grandeur of the past, combined with today’s modern conveniences. Visitors can take advantage of exclusive features such as our own personal chef for the evening and I take real pride in delivering a truly personal service.”

Abernant House has a vast garden, private river access and its own woodland, making it the perfect setting for a large-scale celebration. Guests use the house for short breaks, long weekends with family and friends, or for longer breaks as a base for active adventure holidays.

Surrounded by splendid countryside, it makes a relaxing location for families with small children, stylish hen and stag parties, and significant get-togethers –  pets are welcome too! Recently Jo has added optional extras such as host a Murder Mystery and fitness retreats with accommodation, healthy food, fitness instruction and food plans. Relax, rejuvenate and revitalise!
